String theory as a Lilliputian world
Article history: Received 22 January 2016 Received in revised form 25 February 2016 Accepted 29 February 2016 Available online 4 March 2016 Editor: N. Lambert Lattice regularizations of the bosonic string do not allow us to probe the tachyon. This has often been viewed as the reason why these theories have never managed to make any contact to standard continuum string theories when the dimensio...
متن کاملDEVELOPMENT IN STRING THEORY
The string theory is a fast moving subject, both physics wise and in the respect of mathematics. In order to keep up with the discipline it is important to move with new ideas which are being stressed. Here I wish to give extracts from new papers of ideas which I have recently found interesting. There are six papers which are involved: I ."Strings formulated directly in 4 dimensions " A. N...
متن کاملFree Field Theory as a String Theory?
An approach to systematically implement open-closed string duality for free large N gauge theories is summarised. We show how the relevant closed string moduli space emerges from a reorganisation of the Feynman diagrams contributing to free field correlators. We also indicate why the resulting integrand on moduli space has the right features to be that of a string theory on AdS.
متن کاملNonsymmetric Gravitational Theory as a String Theory
It is shown that the new version of nonsymmetric gravitational theory (NGT) corresponds in the linear approximation to linear Einstein gravity theory and antisymmetric tensor potential field equations with a non-conserved string source current. The Hamiltonian for the antisymmetric field equations is bounded from below and describes the exchange of a spin 1+ massive vector boson between open st...
متن کاملString theory and the real world
Figure 1. A world of hidden, small dimensions. String theories are formulated in a world of 10 or 11 spacetime dimensions. According to those theories, a point in what appears to be four-dimensional spacetime is actually a tiny multidimensional space of its own. The purple blowup hints at the complexity of those minuscule spaces; it is a projection onto three dimensions of a 6D space called a C...
